Transfer by air-conditioned microbus
from Port Elizabeth to the malaria-free Shamwari Private Game Reserve,
arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Steeped in
settler history dating back to a time when a multitude of game roamed
freely, the reserve boasts five eco-systems, thus supporting the many
forms of plant, animal and bird life. Game viewing is conducted in
open vehicles with a trained ranger, who will add to your enjoyment
with his knowledge of both the flora and fauna (Silver tours are in
the Bushman Sands Reserve).
As the light fades, with the help of a
powerful hand-held spotlight, your ranger will sweep the veld in
search of nocturnal animals. Back at the lodge enjoy a drink in the
bar with your ranger amid cheerful recollections of the day's
discoveries. This is followed by a great meal expertly prepared by the
chefs.
Shamwari Private Game Reserve (Bushman
Sands Hotel) - full board basis + 2 game viewing activities
Leave the lodge before dawn, spending 3
to 4 hours spotting game and enjoying the splendid African sunrise
before returning to your lodge for a hearty breakfast. Blankets are
supplied for those cold morning starts. Return to Port Elizabeth for
drop off at your hotel or at Port Elizabeth Airport.
